We welcome anyone who has a sincere interest to explore yin yoga, existing yoga teachers and other wellness professionals (body workers, massage therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, osteopaths, physical therapists, etc.). If you are newer to yin yoga, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us help you prepare for the program.
HOW TO ENROLL
The first step is to contact us at email@example.com or attend an info session if you have any more questions about the training. Then:
- Complete the online application/registration form by clicking the "Apply" button to the right.
- Pay the registration fee (pay pal, cheque, cash)
- Determine remaining payment details (in full or payment plan).
- Complete the student/teacher contract.
- We will be in touch in a couple of weeks prior to the start date of the training with additional training details.
TRAINING STANDARDS AND INFORMATION
Soma Yin Yoga follows the standards outlined by the Yoga Alliance for each of the 5 educational categories. Each day is a blend of a yin yoga class, meditation, presentations, and hands on exploration of the following topics:
Techniques, Training & Practice
Key poses of yin for legs and torso (benefits, considerations & cautions, body types, modifications, variations, sequencing)
Weaving breath, meditation, mantra and mudra into a yin class
Sequencing a yin class
Supporting the body with and without props
Atmosphere of a yin class – pace, vocabulary, voice, and music
Student learning styles
Supporting students with discomfort, injuries, illness and pregnant women
Physical & Energetic Anatomy
Benefits of yin
Understand movements of major joints (hips, knees, ankles, spine, and shoulders)
Exploring sensation (tension, compression, opening, edges, discomfort, pain)
How to create your unique shape
Energy body – Eastern and Western perspectives

As a student in this program, you will have many opportunities to practice teach; starting with individual poses and concepts, and working towards longer sequences as training progresses. If you are a registered teacher with the Yoga Alliance, this training can can count towards 45 hours of CEUs.
The robust manual provided has all the information needed for the course. It also includes additional resources (books, articles, videos) for those who wish to deepen their exploration of yin.
Program fees include:

In addition to the training curriculum, this includes course materials, student record administration and private online community to stay connected and ask questions after training is done.

You will receive a certificate of completion upon graduating. You may teach yin yoga if you are already a 200/300/500 Yoga Alliance certified teacher and count 45 hours towards your continuing education units (CEUs).
Leah is a certified Yoga Instructor and Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor. She describes yoga as a "natural and essential component" of her humanity, a practice that is “beautiful and effective because it taps us into our parasympathetic nervous systems and allows us to rest, reset, heal and digest to feel calm and nourished.” Leah has an extensive amount of training and education in both yoga and Ayurveda.
A simple 20 minute yoga video, in 1998, rescued and restored my stressed & desk bound body. The practice first connected me to the joy of movement I felt when I was a gymnast and it bloomed into a much deeper connection to self. Yoga continues to remind me how important it is to care for our three layers of being (body, mind and our big picture). My own practice of yoga and meditation, thousands of hours of trainings, workshops, teaching classes and leading & developing teacher trainings has humbly taught me to find a yoga for every body that is natural and non-obsessive. Over the last 18 years of practice and teaching, I have learned to listen to what the “layers” are telling me, to slow down and to find stability and strength first. When the body and the mind feel supported, they open with greater ease. In this way, we can practice yoga for life. I enjoy teaching yin, restorative, hatha, and flow. In all of my classes, I weave in breath work, mudras, mantra or visualizations to connect us to our present experience and to support our journey. I have been inspired from the teachings of Paul & Suzee Grilley, Bernie Clark, and Sarah Powers who have graciously shared their unique yin approach.
Training & Education: Ara has the highest level of accreditation with the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500) and has studied yin, restorative, hatha, flow, anatomy, kundalini, prenatal and Reiki.
